I'm back with another Monday Made It...again brought to you by the least crafty/artistic person on the planet. Get ready to laugh (at me, not with me) and shake your head.
I re-did an old kitchen table that my parents had. Here she is in all of her mapley glory. She looks like she'd fit right in on the set of some 90s sitcom, doesn't she? Not fancy enough for 90210. Maybe My So Called Life? Moment of silence for Jordan Catalano and Angela Chase.
So because everything I need to learn (about life) I learn on Pinterest.... I believed in this little table. She has a good shape, so all it took was some paint to get her back in business and in this century.
First up, she got a good cleaning from Murphys Oil Soap.
Then came the worst part....sanding. Yes, I wore safety googles and a mask. I looked pretty scary so I'll spare you a pic. Sidenote-why does everyone on HGTV look so glam all the time? I was swearing and sweating and huffing and puffing and not glam.
But I digress....lastly, came the tack cloth to remove any dust.
Day 2-Ready for Minwax stain (2 coats) with the sealant already in there! I used a foam brush and wiped off any excess.
Next up, I primed the legs. Yes, I should have taken the table apart. But I'm lazy new to DIY.
Then, we painted the legs and sanded them for a shabby chic look.
The chairs were much, much easier. All they needed was a quick sand, prime, and paint.
Here is the final product. What do you think? Did I take her from a 1994 caterpillar to a 2013 butterfly? She's come a long way, right?
Don't yall want to come over for dinner? To my garage? It's only 105 degrees and slightly creepy with the Dexter plastic. I kid, I kid. She's going to be really cute when she gets all styled. A seagrass rug underneath, a tray, some flowers, and she's good to go!
I'd love to know what yall think. Of course, link up and show us yo' stuff!
PS-Emily has been without a computer for the last week. She hasn't been neglecting this little blog! She will be back as soon as our school finishes all of the laptop updates.
I laughed out loud at the dexter plastic comment. Love that show. Your table looks great. 90210 would approve. Love that too come take a peek at my creations. I'm your newest follower
